  1. Hallo Amorians!

Amor has been officially open for just over 5 months now! :D We have about 300 active members, and 150 people who visit the site daily. That's really good for a brand new site! Because this is the first time we're running an 18+ adult themed website, we've been learning a lot of stuff and encountering all kinds of fun things we never expected. There's still a ways to go before we hit that sweet spot where we actually know wtf we're doing.

Now that we're a few months old, we wanted to check in with members to see if we're still on the right track for our community goal and where we need to work on things! So if you can take a few minutes to respond, that would be SUPER AWESOME! You experiences and opinions do matter, even if we decide to go in different directions. To create a fabulous community, we need you guys to throw down that sweet input. <3

LETS START FIRST WITH REMINDING EVERYONE WHY AMOR EXISTS, JUST IN CASE YOUR SKIPPED THE WHOLE LETTER THING WHEN YOU SIGNED UP!

Amor's mission statement is to be a community where adults can write sexual content in an environment that is relaxed, comfortable, and doesn't make you feel like you're in a sex dungeon where all anyone every does is flirt, hit on each other, talk about sex, and constantly try to get sum fuk.

For example, I really love writing sex scenes, romance, erotica, having discussions about kinks and how sex can play a huge role in developing a plot or characters. Sometimes I also love to write gratuitous porn because I just really feel like having some characters bone. It's FUN!

What I DON'T like is hanging out in a chat room or forum thread where people are constantly passing sexual compliments, making sexual innuendos, groping and touching each other, or being a few steps away from cybering. I don't like having my roleplay partners blur the line between us and what our characters are doing; to hit on me or to treat me like a sex partner. I don't want to feel like the people I am talking to, writing with, and hanging around are on the other side of the computer masturbating to all the hot stuff we're writing. The occasional jokes between friends is cool, getting your jollies from our content is cool, but I don't want to be SATURATED in sex.

There's tons of great erotica communities out there, but they don't cater to this demographic. This was why Amor was started, for people like me who LOVE writing sex but don't want to hang out in an over-sexualized community.

With that in mind, answer some of these questions if they apply to you!

In your time on Amor so far, do you think we're accomplishing this goal?
Like, does it feel like you can run around writing about throbbing 12 inch snake dongs or banging your hot gay teacher without fear and shame, but you can also just chill in a non roleplay area and talk about knitting without someone making one too many comments about how they'd like you to grab THEIR fuzzy yarnballs?

Are most of the people you're meeting chill and friendly? How often do you encounter someone who pushes the flirt boundaries or seems way too invested in getting sum fuk?
We know that everyone has different limits on what they find rude or creepy, but this gives us a general idea of what the majority population is like and if our staff needs to step up it's game. Also, just as a reminder you have full control here over who you interact with and the power to help REMOVE creeps from the site. If someone crosses a line that makes you uncomfortable tell them. Explain to them it was too far for you. I promise you, anyone who respects people will 100% understand even if you were just freaking out. People can't be psychic and know what the boundaries are with you unless you tell them. After that though: If they tell you you're just being over sensitive, or they keep pushing it, or keep doing it - report them. We can investigate to see if this person is just being careless or if they are genuinely being a creep and are bad for the site. Because so much happens over private messages, we don't always know when someone is being a total wanker. We rely on your reports to help us catch those people!

Have you had good encounters with our staff and liaisons? Do you see them around, are they friendly and cool?
Having a good staff team is vital in keeping a community safe and happy. They're being helpful when you need them, etc, etc? I mean, there's so few of them you're bound to notice if they suck. Stare at them, I'm sure they'll like it.

Have you setup as a Verified Adult? How was that process for you? Has it helped you feel a little better/safer about the people you're roleplaying with?
We have 160 verified adults so far, so that's really cool. 8D We want adults to feel safe, and not have to worry about asshole inconsiderate teenagers.

Our Resources section is where we have BOTH guides/policies AND a place to store roleplay content like character sheets, plot ideas, etc. How has this been working out? Is it better for ONLY guides/policies, or ONLY roleplay content storage, or is it just kinda sucky in general?
There is no right or wrong answer here, we just wanna know how people have been using it, what works, and what doesn't. :D

One that note, many sites have sticky threads in their announcements/new arrivals section with their complete site policies and info. Do you think that is a better idea than the way we have the rules setup now?
I dunno, just an idea. O_O What do YOU think?

    OTHER COMMENTS? WISHES? DESIRES? IDEAS?
We're not gonna be able to do everything that everyone suggests and wants. Some things just aren't possible or maybe I just don't wanna do it. I'll tell you which! But ALL comments are welcome and maybe you'll have some insight or cool things that hasn't been considerate yet! And we all know a community can't exist without it's members, so let us hear your woooords.

  5. Yes.

Edit: I realize I should expand on my earlier answer. So here goes! I suppose I will give my input as a staff member now.

In your time on Amor so far, do you think we're accomplishing this goal?
I do find that all members are able to understand the distinction between IC and OCC responses from others on the site which seems to help in Amor being able to accomplish this goal.

Are most of the people you're meeting chill and friendly? How often do you encounter someone who pushes the flirt boundaries or seems way too invested in getting sum fuk?
Most members have been able to tolerated (and even enjoy) my puns, so I consider them to be pretty cool.
Maybe it's just my advanced and refined sense of humour (that's right), but I haven't seen any bad behaviour except as a joke. :D

Have you had good encounters with our staff and liaisons? Do you see them around, are they friendly and cool?
Obviously speaking about other members of the staff here, but I like working with all the staff members. It was one of the reasons I was happy to be accepted into this esteemed group of people who devote their personal time to do Diana's bidding... er, I mean help the members.

Also, please don't stare at Diana's staff. :|

  7. Amor is actually one of the better sites that I’ve been on. The atmosphere is chill. The staff seem to be competent and not in the least disgruntled. I’ve been on sites where the differences between the staff, as in conflict-wise, leak out into the population. In other words, they would allow their closed door staff drama to seep into chats and such. It was not very professional of them. I like the staff here and have actually written with several of them.

I have yet to be verified as an adult which is odd considering I live with one of the moderators but that is how it works sometimes.

I have also yet to use the Resource section other than to read it but that may be changing real soon. I have a couple character profiles that need to be done and I’ll be putting them into Resources.

I guess sticky notes would be ok, but I have no issues with the rules or why they are set up like they are.

As for suggestions, I have only one awesome suggestion. We need folders in the Watched Threads. I would love to be able to keep the threads that I am watching separated and organized.

    And there we go.

  8. * In your time on Amor so far, do you think we're accomplishing this goal?
Yes, the goal has been accomplished. I love this site. Seriously love it. Because you can write about stuff that almost makes yourself blush, and then you go and chill with awesome people without anything being uncomfortable or weird.

    * Are most of the people you're meeting chill and friendly? How often do you encounter someone who pushes the flirt boundaries or seems way too invested in getting sum fuk?
Everybody I've met and talked with through PM's or Discord or wherever have been really friendly or just backed off right away when I told them I wasn't into whatever writing ideas they had. Everybody are super chill!

    * Have you had good encounters with our staff and liaisons? Do you see them around, are they friendly and cool?
Without sounding like TOO much of a brown-noser - then I have never ever encountered staff that are as friendly and welcoming and awesome as the staff on Amor. I seriously adore you guys. <3 I've often given up on sites simply because of the staff being a royal pain in the butt. The staff here are always around and they are always super open to help out with anything, and I've never seen a staff member so much as hiss in the direction of any other member.

    * One that note, many sites have sticky threads in their announcements/new arrivals section with their complete site policies and info. Do you think that is a better idea than the way we have the rules setup now?
I honestly don't see a reason to change things from how they are, but maybe that's just me? I've found it very easy to find the rules and guides and whatever else I need.

  9. I have to agree with Blizzer, I personally find the site has been insanely lucky with the members we have. We all move in certain circles from time to time, but I think we've really got a lovely bunch here. I don't feel awkward at all when writing mature content, then going into gabbing and having a giggle. Unlike other sites I've been on in the past, the focus here still feels very focused on community and love for writing. I think this opinion changes when the member base is different, personally.

    THE STAFF ARE HORRIBLE. :D
    Just kidding.
I know I am staff but I wanted to comment from my side, please don't beat me Diana! Or maybe a little spanking.. ;D

I think you've made a wonderful choice. I've been staff elsewhere and it hasn't worked as nicely as it does now. It's a great place to be. And a big thanks to Divinatas because without you, mama owl, we wouldn't be doing as good as we are. You have a great eye for putting our talents to work and you make an effort to keep us happy. What the members don't see is how well staff are looked after. That goes a LONG way. Many sites don't care. And that makes Amor stand out to me. We can always come to you if we can't manage or if we need a break, and that is vital. I think this deserves a lot of praise, and it's essential to our attitude as well. <3 SO A BIG THANK YOU TO YOU! <33 Sorry, it had to be said!

As for the stickies, I'm all about making it easier for members to access. I think the resources may be hard for them to get used to in the start, so I don't think it's a bad idea to link it in that forum just so it's there. However! As staff, we could also link it in our greetings. I'd go with whatever the majority feel would help them as new members. ;p

  10. I have to agree with most everyone here; this is one of the better sites I have been on....NOW of course I have NOT been on that many sites at all but I have ghosted a few sites but decided against them. I came here from IMVU & that is an improvement all in itself lol. And the other site I am on currently.....lets just say they are pushing their luck on keeping me cause currently only 3 people post with me & if it dwindles down any more than I will leave.

I have to totally disagree here because I LOVE the fact that it hasn't developed into porn....fuck if I wanted that then I would just watch it. Besides there is more to life & normal books than all sex.

I don't know anyone on THIS or any other PLANET that would want to see that....although it might be a good form of torture.

I hope everyone has a truly wonderful day. -kisses-

  12. In your time on Amor so far, do you think we're accomplishing this goal?
Definitely, I like jumping into the various topics that get posted up about favorite food, animals and whatever while also carrying on kinky RPs with members of the site. It's a good balance and I never feel pushed towards one over the other.

Are most of the people you're meeting chill and friendly? How often do you encounter someone who pushes the flirt boundaries or seems way too invested in getting sum fuk?
Everyone I've met has been friendly and easy to talk to, not to mention helpful when I had a question or was unsure. What's better is that the community has a lot of variance in interests and desires but nobody is shamed or made fun of for what they're into.

Have you had good encounters with our staff and liaisons? Do you see them around, are they friendly and cool?
Definitely, the staff is great and I'm thankful to have them around. I appreciate all the time they put into making AMOR run smoothly and feel safe.

Our Resources section is where we have BOTH guides/policies AND a place to store roleplay content like character sheets, plot ideas, etc. How has this been working out? Is it better for ONLY guides/policies, or ONLY roleplay content storage, or is it just kinda sucky in general?
I'm pretty happy with putting all that stuff in there, it hasn't been an issue for me.

  13. In your time on Amor so far, do you think we're accomplishing this goal?
Yes, absolutely. I think there is a good balance between folks who are trying to get their jollies off (low end) to those who want to write like the books they read - literate, solid character development, and engaging stories.

I love writing about sex, too, in the same way you mention. Sometimes I just want to write straight to the point, no plot other than someone went looking for a little somethin' somethin' and found it. Usually, though the smut content is a continuation of the character interaction for me. I can't imagine not being a sensual, sexual creature and can't imagine my characters being asexual either. Though now that I've written that maybe I should create a character like that...

"The occasional jokes between friends is cool, getting your jollies from our content is cool, but I don't want to be SATURATED in sex."

    That! Yes!

I am OK with some flirty chit chat. Bad innuendos, even better. The site is all about being about to write about sex and kinks that I would normally be embarrassed to admit to have even entertained. There's a line, of course, and that's when folks should go get a room, but I think some sexually charged banter should be expected.

For me, I do hope that I am affecting my writing partners in some way. A little titillation and arousal, a story they want to read, or a character they want to get to know more. If I make them wank, then I've written the erotica well, thank you very much! I doubt I ever have, but still. I'd find that a pretty good compliment. But, that's just my take on things.

I do agree about being treated like a sex partner OOCly, as well. I prefer to focus on the story. I am not my character any more than my partner is their character. So long as everybody understands this, we should be golden. I do have a few folks of whom I am a fan already and probably gush too much like a fangirl at them, but I hope they know they can say that and I'll shush. This is another thing about the site that I like: emphasis on respect without being fascist about it.

Are most of the people you're meeting chill and friendly? How often do you encounter someone who pushes the flirt boundaries or seems way too invested in getting sum fuk?
Very. There are so many people on here, I know I have barely touched my toes in the water. I have even seen people from other sites I write on, which is kind of cool. I am sure there are a few folks who are here just for the "fuk", but I think even they might find a willing writing partner if they don't act like douches and can string a sentence together well.

Have you had good encounters with our staff and liaisons? Do you see them around, are they friendly and cool?
My interactions with staff has been wonderful! Even if I am asking dorky questions over Discord PM, everyone has been patient and approachable. That's important for site moderators. THANK YOU!

@Knight was very welcoming my first visit to the Discord, which I appreciated greatly. I even like his puns.

Have you setup as a Verified Adult? How was that process for you? Has it helped you feel a little better/safer about the people you're roleplaying with?
Easy af. Everyone should do it.

I was a little concerned about sending my ID, but I also blacked out everything that was unnecessary.

My biggest struggle was the 'me in the picture with my ID' simply because my arms are short and holding the phone far enough away to snap the pic was a bit of a challenge. Then, there was the whole 'holy f**k why is that photo size so large' moment. But, that was probably just me being dorky ^.^ I am sure there are other ways to accomplish the photo, but I just wanted to get it done.

Absolutely, 100% yes, on the safer part. The resource regarding age and such was super helpful, too.

Our Resources section is where we have BOTH guides/policies AND a place to store roleplay content like character sheets, plot ideas, etc. How has this been working out? Is it better for ONLY guides/policies, or ONLY roleplay content storage, or is it just kinda sucky in general?
I like the resources section. If I were pressed for a suggestion, maybe there is a "site resources" section differentiated from a "writer resources" section where we can post our personal content stuff.

One that note, many sites have sticky threads in their announcements/new arrivals section with their complete site policies and info. Do you think that is a better idea than the way we have the rules setup now?
Stickies aren't a bad idea, if you can do both. I liked @Enigma's idea of having them in the welcome e-mail and posts (if they aren't already).

    OTHER COMMENTS? WISHES? DESIRES? IDEAS?
I've already put forward a suggestion or two and staff and others have responded. I like the use of the polls to solicit community feedback, which you are already doing.

I saw the post about "why your sex scenes suck" and found it interesting and useful. Writing about sex can be highly subjective and some of the call outs as "don't do it", might actually be alright in some circumstances.

A resource for writing 101 would be pretty cool, if we don't have one already.

For those who want to improve their writing skills, resources like that offer great perspective and suggestions without coming across as personal criticisms. I'm pretty sure there are some from published writers who make money writing the stuff we all like, published free on the internet. I know style is a personal preference, so that's just a thought. I know I'm no Neil Gaiman and my partners aren't either (or if they are, damn it Neil, fess up!), but there's miles of difference between "He got really hard and shoved it in and it felt really good" and a story that makes me excited to be a part of and want to respond to as a writer.

  14. @Rhizome is currently writing a writing guide which will cover a LOT. xD But in the future, if anything is missing, we do have threads in gabbing for recommendations. :D This goes for anyone who feels something is missing or even if you just personally want a guide on something. <3 Edit: I also forgot to add, as you say Ree, it also depends on the person. So don't be afraid to ask writers you guys admire to write a guide on how they do it and how they've improved. I think that'd be a good guide idea, how to improve ones writing. :)

@Ree The puns are amazing! <3

  19. In your time on Amor so far, do you think we're accomplishing this goal?

Of course. The feeling I get here is that were a community of writers, and not just a bunch of people looking for sexy stuffs. It's pushed me to improve my own writing, and having come from sites where everything was dripping in sex, that's something I never got from anywhere else.

Are most of the people you're meeting chill and friendly? How often do you encounter someone who pushes the flirt boundaries or seems way too invested in getting sum fuk?

I don't think I've encountered any cases of this personally, and the couple I've seen have been dealt with as necessary depending on the situation, be it just by someone telling them to chill out or a poke from the staff to let them know what we're about.

Have you had good encounters with our staff and liaisons? Do you see them around, are they friendly and cool?

Having worked on another forum's staff and observed others from the outside, it's been a pleasure working on the team here at Amor. Part of that is the people I'm working alongside and the cohesion among us, and another is the person we're working under; as has been said above, @Divinitas looks out for her staff as well as the members. Issues are approached as if we stand along side the members instead of it being "us vs. them," and having seen too much of the latter, it's refreshing, and I'm proud to have been brought aboard.

Have you setup as a Verified Adult? How was that process for you? Has it helped you feel a little better/safer about the people you're roleplaying with?

I have, shortly after I became a staff member. As I recall, it was confirmed either the night I seen it in, or the morning after. The whole of the process was quick and easy, and it's a great option add a note of credibility to your profile for when others are looking through it. Include the fact that any important information present on your ID can be blacked out or covered up pretty easily, and I don't see any reason to not do it.

Our Resources section is where we have BOTH guides/policies AND a place to store roleplay content like character sheets, plot ideas, etc. How has this been working out? Is it better for ONLY guides/policies, or ONLY roleplay content storage, or is it just kinda sucky in general?

This. I don't like this. I've never liked this, and I don't understand why these things are lumped together. It makes it difficult and inconvenient to browse through one of the specific categories, and I've caught myself missing what I was looking for because I was trying to skim over due to content that wasn't relevant to what I was looking for. I'd liken my sentiment towards this organization system to how people who don't like their food touching would react if you handed them a bowl with several things thrown in together and on top of each other. "Why? D:"

On that note, many sites have sticky threads in their announcements/new arrivals section with their complete site policies and info. Do you think that is a better idea than the way we have the rules setup now?

Yes. I am of the opinion that just about anything that would let me just look through rules when I went to double check something would be better than the current bucket everything is thrown into.

    OTHER COMMENTS? WISHES? DESIRES? IDEAS?

Whenever Kehvarl finishes the chats, I would love to get some games going in them, like how we used to have Steambox Truth or Dare. As well as the possibility of that masquerade charp, which was mentioned somewhere at some point.
